Payment
If you are one of the
successful applicants to join the fam, you have to confirm your
participation by sending an agency cheque to HKTB for CAD$ 649.00, payable
to “Hong Kong Tourism Board” on or before
September 29, 2004.
Otherwise, your space will be released.
Cancellation Fees (once payment is received)
Cancellation received before October 19,
2004 . . . 50% non refundable
Cancellation received before October 26,
2004 . . . 100% non refundable
Flight
Schedules
Please arrange your connecting flight
to/from Cathay Pacific gateway (not included in the fam cost.) You are
expected to be at the Cathay Pacific counter 2 hours prior to flight time.
Accommodation/Deviations
All participants
are required to travel with the group, as we will not be able to entertain
extensions or deviations from the itinerary. Hotel information and
rooming lists will be sent once all participants are finalized. Please
note that all rooms are on a twin-sharing basis. Single supplements
are not available on this Fam.
Passports/Travel Insurance/Visas
For Canadian Passport holders, visa is not required for
entries to Hong Kong. However, you will need a visa to enter into
China. Please ensure your passport is valid at least six months after
departure from Beijing. For holders of Passports from all other
countries, please ensure that all entry requirements are met, or boarding
will be denied and no refunds be made. Please
arrange your own
China visa
and travel insurance as they will not be covered under the cost of the Fam.

Dress codes (some simple definitions to
the dress codes to be expected)

“Casual” – jeans and sneakers are fine;
-
“Smart
casual” slacks, polo shirts, sweaters and comfortable footwear. No jeans or
sneakers. (This is the suggested style of attire of dress on your CX
flights)

“Business” – coat & tie for men and
dress/pant suit for women
Currency
The present
exchange rate is approximately HKD5.70 to CAD1.00 and RMB6 to CAD1.00.
We suggest you have some HKD prior to your departure on hand, Canadian
dollars traveler’s cheques and cash are accepted in Hong Kong and Beijing.
Cardholders of the major banks in Canada may withdraw local currency from
the Automated-Teller Machines (ATMs), which can be found everywhere in Hong
Kong; Visa card is well accepted for cash advance in Beijing. There is no
need for you to purchase US dollars for the Fam.
Tips,
Gratuities & Porterage
The Fam cost does not cover local tips,
gratuities and porterage. A lump sum of RMB130/pax will be collected
in Beijing and HKD150/pax in Hong Kong.
