CHINA NATIONAL TOURIST OFFICE - TORONTO
To honor the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations, the Consulate General of China in Toronto and CNTO Toronto proudly hosted a special cross-cultural concert titled "Dialogue Between East and West" on June 11, 2026.
The music and performing arts programs are co-hosted by the Canada-China Cultural Development Association and the Toronto Chinese Music School. The groundbreaking musical event gathered over a dozen talented local and international musicians. The evening beautifully proved how music can act as a universal bridge through instruments in conversation and repertoire of fusion. Traditional Chinese instruments like the guzheng (zither) and the pipa (lute) shared the spotlight with western violins, the rhythms of the Xinjiang hand drum.
Luo Weidong, Consul General in Toronto from the People’s Republic of China, noted during the event that music serves as a perfect reflection of equal, uniquely beautiful civilizations and praised the deepening cultural ties between China and Canada. Wu Ning, the Director of China National Tourist Office, Toronto, emphasized that the evening’s spirit of dialogue extended far beyond the playlist, and it was deeply alive in the seamless cooperation of the diverse musicians on stage.
